This course focuses on the health of children and young people from birth to becoming a care leaver. We consider not only physical health but also emotional and social well-being. It includes discussions on puberty and sexual health, encouraging open and sometimes-embarrassing conversations.

When children enter care or are adopted, they often experience loss and bereavement from being separated from their birth family. This course helps you understand and manage their emotions, offering strategies for effective communication with your child or young person.

Domestic Abuse Training for Foster Carers
This course covers the definition and forms of domestic abuse, including coercive control. It examines its prevalence, especially among young people, and identifies controlling behaviours. Therapeutic Parenting Pick 'n' Mix
Therapeutic Parenting Training is a psychoeducational group for adults caring for children who have experienced trauma and loss. Carers will learn strategies to support emotional healing, manage challenging behaviours, and create a nurturing environment, fostering resilience and stability for children in their care.

Resilience and Self Care for Foster Carers
This session helps participants learn and develop resilience strategies and tools for themselves and the children and young people they work with. It includes defining resilience, methods to build it, resilience strategies, and helpful tools, along with signposting to further support. There will be space for questions and answers.

Coaching and NLP Training for Foster Carers

This e-module gives an essential overview of good fire safety practice at work. You will learn how to identify potential fire risks, and what to do if you discover a fire or hear a fire alarm. It mainly covers fire precautions in offices but it applies to all premises, except where there are very high fire risk processes in place.

This a mandatory e-module for new starters covers five key areas to help you increase and refresh your awareness of fraud. It looks at the meaning and prevention of fraud, bribery, corruption, and money laundering, and includes guidance on what to do if you suspect irregular activity.

ICT Security and Information Security e-module
This mandatory e-module for council ICT users covers security policies and data protection. Complete it from start to finish or in stages. You will need to pass the assessment with 80% to ensure safe and appropriate information sharing.

The e-module explains the context in which a decision loggist operates. It describes the decision loggist role in an emergency response and their specific responsibilities, how to record the data, and understanding the difference between a decision loggist and a minute taker.

Humanitarian Assistance Centre Training e-module
This e-module is an introduction for South Gloucestershire Council staff and other Humanitarian Assistance staff to humanitarian assistance centres (HAC). It explains the types of council run centres, basic HAC requirements, and familiarises staff with public welfare needs.

An ally is someone who uses their position to empower, support and defend marginalised groups. This e-module will help you learn more about the five ways to be an effective ally - confidant, champion, amplifier, sponsor, or upstander and learn how to provide a safe and supportive space.

Autism Awareness
The training includes two presentations on the Autism Spectrum. Part 1 covers Autism traits, social challenges, coping mechanisms, and employment barriers. Part 2 explores Autism types, skills, mental health, disability models, support strategies, and notable autistic individuals.

Personal Independence Payments (PIP)
This course explores the PIP application process, completing self-assessments, understanding benefit interactions, assessment scoring, appeals, and key roles involved. Delivered by James Hennefeld, an experienced social worker and AMHP with expertise in hidden disabilities and PIP access.

Reablement – Maximising Independence and Wellbeing
This half-day course provides a refresher to develop your understanding of how reablement fits within the wider context as a key intervention within adult social care. It involves practical tools and discussions to build on existing knowledge.

Inter-parental conflict between a child’s parents/carers will have a considerable impact on child outcomes. This 1.5-hour bitesize training course will explore the impact of frequent arguing on children and the resources you can use to support healthy relationships.

This e-module introduces Occupational Therapy and Social Work staff to the three conversations (3Cs) approach, covering its principles, rules, types of conversation, and their application, as well as how the 3Cs approach relates to the Care Act.
