    Eligibility: This course is open to council Occupational Therapists only.

    This course is exclusively for Occupational Therapy staff and offers an interactive session following a set syllabus. You will gain an understanding of relevant legislation and use various handling equipment to apply an ergonomic systems approach to safer handling. You will demonstrate safe methods of handling people, learn how to select and evaluate a range of current handling manoeuvres, and develop an awareness of risk assessment.

    The course also covers single-handed care assessments and the importance of evidence-based practice. Practical case scenarios and demonstrations will support your learning.

    This mandatory training course ensures Occupational Therapists comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act legislation and meet the Professional Standards set by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
