    Eligibility: This course is open to everyone.

    Join us for a dynamic two-day workshop-style course, enriched with real-life case studies and our practical A.C.T.I.O.N.S.© plan. You will acquire essential skills to proactively support others, including during mental health crises, as well as enhance your own wellbeing.

    We delve deeply into common mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety, challenge stigma, and explore stress management, warning signs, coping strategies, recovery, self-care, and much more. This comprehensive course qualifies you as a Mental Wellbeing First Aider, equipping you to support adults, children, and colleagues effectively.

    Participants will receive a valuable resource pack, including a combined workbook and manual, along with an e-certificate. This course is ideal for anyone committed to fostering mental wellbeing in their personal and professional lives.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • The fundamentals of mental health, including definitions and key concepts.
    • The impact of stigma and discrimination on mental health and how to challenge these issues.
    • The range of mental health conditions and their varying degrees of severity.
    • Strategies for recovery and maintaining wellness.
    • The effects of stress and pressure, and learn effective coping mechanisms.
    • Depression and anxiety, including symptoms and treatment options.
    • The importance of self-care and practical ways to incorporate it into daily life.
    • Resources and methods for seeking help and providing support to others.
    • Active listening and empathy to better support those in need.

    Charges

    There is a charge of £25 for the resource pack, for South Gloucestershire Council staff this will be charged internally. When you sign up you'll be able to book your place. We will contact you to arrange payment until we are ready to accept online payments.
