    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Pre-School Committee Members and Early Years Managers

    This network will be split into two virtual sessions.  Session 1 will provide a spotlight on funding.  It will help you to gain an understanding of the various government funded childcare grants that are available, the South Gloucestershire Provider Portal, sustainability, the annual census requirements and fundraising opportunities.  Session 2 will help you to understand your role as a committee member in recruiting practitioners to work in your setting.  We will help you to understand your safeguarding responsibilities so that you know what to do and who to go to if you have concerns.  We will also briefly explore some practical ways you can help to market your setting.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Understanding the various government funded childcare grants that are available.
    • Awareness of the South Gloucestershire provider portal which is used to administer the government grants.
    • Understanding of where to seek support if you require guidance with any money matters.
    • Awareness of the importance of marketing your setting to ensure future sustainability.
    • Quick and easy fundraising ideas.
    • Awareness of possible funding sources.
    • Planning for future committee succession.
    • Knowledge of your responsibilities around recruitment, including the process from the decision to recruit through to induction and probation.
    • Understanding of the importance of safer recruitment.
