This e-module is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to be a proactive and effective ally. An ally is someone who uses their privileged social identity to empower, support, and defend marginalised groups. This e-module will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the five key ways to be an effective ally: confidant, champion, amplifier, sponsor, and upstander.
You will learn how to offer a safe and supportive space for marginalised individuals to share their experiences and concerns and ways to actively promote and advocate for the rights and interests of marginalised groups. The module will also guide you on how to be an amplifier, using your voice to elevate the voices of those who are often unheard. Additionally, you will explore the role of a sponsor, where you can use your influence to create opportunities and open doors for marginalised individuals. Finally, as an upstander, you will learn how to act against injustice and discrimination, standing up for what is right.
