• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to foster carers

Care leavers have shared that developing more life skills before leaving care would have made their transition to independence much easier. This event aims to provide carers with essential information to understand the options available for young people in terms of housing, education, and benefits, enabling you to better assess the needs of your young person. With this knowledge, you will also be more equipped to consider how changes to the fostering status may impact your household. We will have team members available to offer advice on accommodation options, including the Staying Put Scheme and Supported Lodgings. After introductions by professionals, we will break out into separate tables where carers can participate in workshop-style activities, have more direct access to professionals, and ask relevant questions. Join us for this informative event to enhance your ability to support young people transitioning to independence.
