    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Early Years Settings and Schools

    This one hour virtual session will explore what it means be become Makaton Aware or Makaton Friendly.  Becoming Makaton Aware or Makaton Friendly is about more than just communication - it's about creating welcoming, inclusive environments where everyone feels values, understood, and empowered to participate.  Communication is a human right.  This is not a certified workshop and will not be recorded.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will:

    • Understand Makaton's vision.
    • Understand what it means to be Makaton Aware and Makaton Friendly, and consider how you can work towards this in your setting.
    • Explore and understand the guiding principles.
    • Understand that with Makaton you can create a place where everyone - no matter their communication needs - can thrive.
