This training will cover a range of important topics, including race, racism, and systemic racism, particularly in relation to social care. We will examine disparities highlighted by statistics caused by systemic racism in social care and other core English institutions. Participants will explore unconscious bias and social conditioning to better challenge their own thoughts and beliefs. The course will also address white privilege, power, and advantage, as well as cultural awareness to enhance cultural competence when supporting people.
We will discuss microaggressions, how to mitigate them, and how to support someone who has experienced a microaggression. The nuances and connotations associated with outdated terms will be covered, along with anti-racism allyship and what it means for individuals, teams, and the organisation.
Finally, participants will be encouraged to make an anti-racism pledge.Support will be offered to all staff by the trainer and the organisation where needed.
