Eligibility: This course is open to anyone working with children, adults, or families in South Gloucestershire

Commissioned by the Safeguarding Adults Board and the Children’s Partnership, this bitesize session is designed for internal and external social care professionals. Whether you are supporting adults, children, or families, effective information sharing is a vital part of safeguarding practice—and this course will help you do it with confidence and clarity. Participants will explore the essential principles that underpin safe and lawful information sharing, including the ‘seven golden rules’. The session will provide a clear overview of the legal frameworks that govern information sharing in relation to both adults and children, helping practitioners understand their responsibilities and the boundaries within which they must operate. Through real-world case examples, attendees will examine the dilemmas that arise in practice and learn how to navigate these situations with professional judgement. The course will also address the importance of consent—when it is required, when it is not, and how to approach these conversations with sensitivity and confidence.
