This half-day session is designed for adult social care practitioners and managers, focusing on Direct Payments (DPs) as defined under the Care Act 2014. We will explore the benefits of DPs for adults, carers, professionals, and the Local Authority, as well as the associated challenges.

    • A Direct Payments recipient will share their lived experience, highlighting how it has enabled them to lead a meaningful life.
    • Steffan Lewis from the South Gloucestershire Council DPs monitoring team will provide an overview of the process for setting up a DP in South Gloucestershire and will be available to answer questions.
    • A representative from a support provider will discuss how they can offer bespoke support to individuals considering or receiving a DP.
    • The session will also feature a short video from one of your social work colleagues, who will share her experience of how DPs are integral to effective, person-centred practice.
