    Eligibility: This course is open to foster carers

    The Basic Child Protection Course, designed specifically for Foster Carers, aims to provide comprehensive information on the laws, guidance, and procedures that protect and safeguard children both nationally and within your local area. It will provide evidence towards meeting Induction Standard Six: Safeguard Children and Young People. Participants will gain an understanding of child protection principles, how to identify signs of abuse, and the appropriate steps to take when concerns arise. This training is essential for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in foster care.     Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Understand the various ways children and young people can be harmed by adults, peers, and through the internet.
    • Recognise the different ways children and young people can be at risk of abuse, and identify the signs and indicators of possible abuse and neglect.
    • Learn the procedures to follow if you suspect a child is being abused or neglected, and understand the actions you may need to take.
    • These outcomes align with TSDS standards 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, and 6.5 .
