    Eligibility: This course is for staff or managers who carry out reviews in any organisation

    During this session, we will delve into the context of organisational abuse, examining the warning signs and barriers to reporting as identified through learning from previous enquiries and Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs).

    You will have the opportunity to focus on promoting best practice by:

    • Recognising the pivotal role of organisational culture in preventing abuse and effectively responding to concerns.
    • Exploring tools and strategies to enhance practice and safeguard individuals.

    This session aims to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of:

    • How South Gloucestershire Council collaborates with partner organisations to prevent and address organisational abuse.
    • Your specific role and responsibilities, including the appropriate actions to take when you have concerns.

    By the end of this session, you will be better prepared to foster a safe and supportive environment within your organisation, ensuring that any signs of abuse are promptly recognised and addressed.

    Learning Outcomes

    By completing this course, you will be able to:

    • Recognise the predisposing risk factors for abuse within care services, including staff values, work culture and environment.
    • As a service provider, identify any predisposing risk factors within own service and take practical steps to address these.
    • As an external professional, identify any predisposing risk factors within services visited and take practical steps to address these.
    • Describe the organisational safeguarding process within South Gloucestershire including your own role within this.
    • Apply a person-centred approach in safeguarding practice.

    Charges

    The charge for this course or event is: £115. However, if your organisation contributes to the safeguarding board, or you are South Gloucestershire Council social care staff you will be entitled to a fully funded place. Fully funded places may be subject to a non-attendance or late cancellation fee.
