    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire professionals working in the Early Years, which includes childminders, pre-schools, nurseries and school reception classes

    There continues to be a significant increase in Early Years children at risk of exclusion from their settings, often linked to poorly managed transitions.  Transitions occur throughout an entire persons life, in both life stages, events, changes throughout the day, and even in between tasks.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will:

    • Understand the differences between macro and micro transitions.
    • Improve your knowledge of why transitions can be challenging for autistic children.
    • Be able to identify key principles of transition support in the early years.
    • Be able to identify key considerations when planning early years transition support.
    • Understand of the importance of a child-centred approach.
    • Be able to use a strengths and interests based approach when planning for transitions.
    • Develop confidence in planning for everyday transitions.
    • Understand the use of tools when planning for key transitions, such as the transition into primary school.
