This community-based course is designed to increase awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health, providing participants with valuable insights they can apply in their daily lives and work. This interactive, three-and-a-half-hour online course aims to raise general awareness about mental health and wellbeing, offering basic guidance on how to respond to individuals in need of support. The course content is informed by the perspectives of those with lived experience of emotional or mental health issues, alongside the latest research evidence. Suitable for anyone, including staff and volunteers from various settings working with adults, children, and families, this course is ideal for those wishing to deepen their understanding of mental health. It features a blend of factual presentations, small group work, and large group discussions, all conducted within agreed ground rules of confidentiality and mutual respect. Extensive handouts will be provided to support your learning. By participating in this course, you will gain a better understanding of mental health issues and learn practical ways to support individuals, fostering a more inclusive and empathetic community.
