    Eligibility: This course is open to foster carers

    This course is designed to help foster carers navigate the complex and sensitive issue of abuse allegations and complaints. Participants will develop their understanding of abuse allegations and complaints, and the procedures used to manage them. The course covers the legal framework, best practices for responding to allegations, and how to support both the child and the foster carer during investigations. Hosted by the Fostering Network, this training will help you gain essential knowledge and skills to manage allegations effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all involved.     Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Develop a balanced and realistic understanding of allegations and complaints in foster care.
    • Consider how everyone involved in fostering can contribute to minimising the incidence of abuse allegations.
    • Examine the implications for policy and procedures in managing allegations and complaints, in line with DfE guidance.
    • Explore the availability of quality support for carers and their families during an allegation.
