Eligibility: This course is open to adults caring for children.
To attend this course, you must have completed "Why and How? Attachment and Emotional Health for Young People Looked After," or had a consultation through Thinking Aloud. Caring for children who have experienced trauma and loss can be challenging. These children may exhibit behaviours that evoke strong emotions in their caregivers, often leading to placement breakdowns and long-term mental health issues. Understanding their experiences can help reduce distress and improve their social and emotional well-being. You will gain insights of these children and tools to navigate and support them. It is not a quick fix but a foundation for carers to enhance their reflective capacity, knowledge, and skills. Attend with an open mind; even experienced carers can benefit from refreshing and reflecting on their skills. Facilitators will model a philosophy of shared learning, where everyone contributes. This interactive course will equip you with tools such as self-care and self-reflection, child-specific tools to better support children, and a workbook filled with information and theories. By booking, you consent to sharing your contact details with the trainer for Teams invitations.
