Who are we?
The South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults Board (SGSAB) and the Children’s Partnership (SGCP) are statutory bodies that make sure adults and children, who may be at risk, are protected.
What we do.
As a multiagency body, we create the right policies, check how well things are working, and make sure staff get proper training, to work together effectively.
Who can access the multiagency training?
The training is commissioned for professionals from all organisations, who work with adults and children. Having a multiagency approach helps us to:
- Know and understand each other’s roles.
- Develop better working relationships.
- Produce better outcomes for children, adults and families.
What training do I need to do?
The SGSAB has created Safeguarding Adults Training Standards to help organisations plan safeguarding adults training.
The Child Protection Training Pathway is used across all local authorities in the Avon and Somerset area (B&NES, North Somerset, Somerset, Bristol, and South Gloucestershire). The training is designed to work together across these areas, so you don’t repeat the same content, and each course builds on the last.
Because of this, only the official SGCP training courses are accepted. Even if other training has a similar name, it won’t count if the learning objectives are different.
- Introduction to Child Protection
- Renew every two years (unless you move on to Advanced).

Single agency training.
The SGCP also provides single agency training for volunteers who work in the community, as well as training materials for schools.
Costs to attend training.
Training places are funded for those working in Health, Police and Social Care, as these Partners contribute financially to the SGSAB and SGCP. However, please note you may be charged for non-attendance or late cancellations in line with our terms and conditions.
External partners who do not contribute financially to the SGSAB or SGCP will be charged to attend.
