    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Council adult social care professionals only.

    This one-day course features a broad range of learning activities designed to help you collaborate with colleagues to understand the complexity of the decision-making process. You will define and develop a comprehensive understanding of both legal literacy and defensible decision-making, drawing from both theoretical perspectives and your own experiences and practice.

    You will be invited to complete a self-assessment to gauge your confidence in your knowledge of key aspects of the legal framework for Adult Social Care. This will be followed by an opportunity to share ideas on how to further develop your legal literacy and ensure it underpins your practice.

    The session will emphasise the importance of accurate, unbiased analysis in forming professional opinions and making defensible decisions, which are crucial for professional accountability.

    Towards the end of the session, you will have the chance to consider how to ensure that your written case recordings reflect your legally literate practice and the defensible decisions you make in your professional role.

    By participating in this session, you will enhance your ability to make informed, defensible decisions and ensure your practice is grounded in a solid understanding of the legal framework.
