• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to anyone working with children, adults, or families in South Gloucestershire.

This 1.75-day course is for practitioners from all organisations across South Gloucestershire. This training, commissioned by the South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults Board and Children’s Partnership, aligns with national and local legislation, policy, guidance, and best practice. It is delivered over two consecutive dates, and attendance at both sessions is required to complete the training.

The first session (0.75 days), delivered on MS Teams, will refresh and develop your knowledge of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and key learnings from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Safeguarding Adult Reviews, and Domestic Homicide Reviews. The importance of trauma-informed practice, underpinned by professional curiosity, will also be explored.

The second session, delivered in-person, focuses on exploring, developing, and embedding best practice for effective multi-agency and multidisciplinary working. Topics include intersectionality, child-centred practice within a whole family approach, effective risk assessment and safety planning, and professional self-care.

Throughout both sessions, delegates are encouraged to share their practice experiences, learn from others, and move beyond knowledge and theory to practical application. Active participation in both sessions is integral to the completion of the programme.
