Eligibility: This course is for Social Workers who fulfil specific eligibility requirements.

This is the third day of our comprehensive four-day course designed for Trainee Practice Educators. To attend this course, you must have approval to provide a placement and confirmation that you are working at the Experienced level of the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF). Additionally, you must be post-qualified for at least two years from the start of the placement.

Day three focus: effective feedback and assessment methods.

This course focuses on managing fair and transparent assessments of social work learners and providing constructive and effective feedback. Throughout the day, Practice Educator (PE) trainees will establish what constitutes effective feedback. We will explore the impact of both positive and negative feedback and identify strategies to ensure feedback is effective and promotes learning growth.

Participants will learn how to conduct holistic assessments, focusing on essential criteria such as relevance, validity, reliability, and sufficiency. We will identify the range of assessment methods available in a social work placement and work through practical assessment examples. Additionally, there will be opportunities to trial models that support the application of theory into practice.

This day aligns with the Domain C requirements of the BASW Practice Education Professional Standards (PEPS).
