• Course overview



    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Early Years SENDCOs and Managers

    This in-person 1.5 hour session will help to refresh your understanding of EYFS statutory guidance and SEND Code of Practice.  You will be made aware of the importance of early identification of developmental delay and differences to support and plan next steps.  We will discuss different assessment tools and how to use them to support the graduated approach.  You will be made aware of information needed to support referrals and the referrals process to different agencies.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Supporting your staff team in understanding their statutory responsibilities of EYFS requirements when support a child with SEND.
    • Supporting your staff team with early identification of developmental differences and delay to plan and support next steps.
    • An awareness of different assessment tools and how to use them effectively to plan next steps and monitor progress.
    • An awareness of referrals processes and information needed to support referral to different agencies.
