• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to child social care staff.

Delivered by Barnardo’s Lived Experience Consultancy, this powerful and unique session is open to all staff in Children’s Social Care and Preventative Services. Facilitated by young people with lived experience, the training offers a rare opportunity to deepen your understanding of trauma through authentic, first-hand perspectives.

These young facilitators have built strong, trusting relationships with Barnardo’s staff over many years, creating a safe and open environment for honest dialogue. Their stories and insights will challenge, inspire, and equip you to become more trauma-aware in your everyday practice.

A previous participant described it as “the best Trauma-Informed training” they had attended, particularly valuing the reflective space offered to consider how to apply the Top Seven Tips for Trauma-Informed Practice in real-world settings.

This session is ideal for social work assistants, social workers, personal assistants, team managers, and service managers. Whether you’re new to trauma-informed approaches or looking to enhance your current practice, this training will leave you with greater confidence, awareness, and practical strategies to support those affected by trauma.
