Total Respect is a national training course, designed with the help of care-experienced young people to help adults understand the needs and experiences of children in care.
This course offers a valuable opportunity to learn directly from young people, to enhance skills and knowledge to actively promote children’s rights and participation. Participants will clarify roles, explore responses, and develop actionable plans for meaningful change.
The training covers listening to children effectively, understanding their perspectives, and responding appropriately. It emphasises acting on their wishes and feelings, ensuring their voices are valued and acted upon.
By participating, professionals will gain insights into the unique challenges faced by children in care and learn practical strategies to support their well-being and development. The involvement of care-experienced young people provides an authentic and impactful learning experience, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Overall, Total Respect empowers adults to make a positive difference in the lives of children in care, fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and active participation.
