    Eligibility: This course is open to everyone from any organisation working with children and families in South Gloucestershire.

    Safeguarding and child protection depends on reliable and accepted procedures, skills, knowledge, judgement and the ability to work and learn together well. This course is essential for professionals who act in a designated or named role for safeguarding within their organisation.

    The course, commissioned by the South Gloucestershire Children’s Partnership, is designed to make sure attendees leave with the required knowledge, skills and confidence to work and develop as multi-agency partners.

    The course includes statutory practice requirements and application of local thresholds with a focus on assessment and decision making.

    Additional information:

    Attendance at the Introduction to Child Protection course and the Advanced Child Protection course are pre-requisites prior booking onto this course. If you are not sure of your eligibility, please contact HR Learning and Development for advice.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Have a reinforced understanding of legislation, policies, procedures and best practice in safeguarding.
    • Increase your confidence in using the Signs of Safety model and resources to support practice.
    • Continue to develop your knowledge and understanding of contextual safeguarding concerns, such as trauma informed care, disguised compliance and extra-familial harm, risk to children outside of their homes, all types of exploitation, FGM and radicalisation.
    • Continue to learn from local case reviews and enhance best practice accordingly.
    • Have opportunities to network, review practice, and share learning.

    Charges

    The charge for this course or event is £85.50. However, if your organisation contributes to the safeguarding board, or you are internal social care staff you will be entitled to a fully funded place. Fully funded places may be subject to a non-attendance or late cancellation fee.
