This virtual one hour session looks at the NSPCC's Talk PANTS with Makaton. This programme helps children with communication differences to stay safe from abuse and promotes safeguarding practice. Using Makaton symbols and signs, it teaches the five key rules. This session is for information only and is not a Makaton certified workshop.

School Based Nursery Practitioner Network

This in-person three part course, run by our team of Early Years Advisors, is open to Reception Teachers and TAs either new to or returning to EYFS, including ECTs. We aim to equip attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to be able to effectively support all children within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Risky Play Outdoors

This virtual three session course is for leaders, managers, and those with senior responsibilities for working in the baby room. It will facilitate participants to explore their responsibility in leading practice effectively.

Pre-School Committee Support Network
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Pre-School Committee Members and Managers.
This virtual two session network is an informal opportunity for pre-school committee officers to get together and network with others in a similar role, to learn from each other's experiences, discuss common issues, and plan for future succession.

Recruiting Early Years Staff

This in-person half day session will help you to consider as a setting how you can effectively and safely recruit and induct new staff. We will explore the whole recruitment process from start to finish - taking the decision to recruit right through to to induction and probation.

EYFSP Moderation
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Schools Reception Class Practitioners.
These in-person two hour sessions are open to all practitioners working in Reception classes and those responsible for assessment in schools. These sessions will explore EYFSP data requirements and will enable delegates to explore and agree assessment information for children at the end of their Reception year.

Early Years Safeguarding Refresher Session
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Early Years Childminders, Pre-Schools and Day Nurseries.
This virtual two hour session, run by Lynda Cordukes, South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adviser, is a free refresher session for South Gloucestershire Early Years Practitioners. We will explore local authority updates, safeguarding scenarios and early years specific safeguarding changes.

Childminder SENDCO Training
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Childminders.
This six session course is open to childminders working with early years children in South Gloucestershire. This course equips childminders with essential knowledge and practical strategies to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It covers inclusive practices, early identification, working with families, and accessing support services.

Autism Education Trust: Making Sense of Autism
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire education professionals working in the early years, which includes Childminders, Pre-Schools, Nurseries and School Reception Classes.
This two session virtual course by Autism Education Trust (AET) provides delegates with an introduction to autism. It is most appropriate for colleagues who are working in early years with little or no past experience of working and caring for children with autism.

Autism Education Trust: Anxiety Module
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire education professionals working in the Early Years, which includes Childminders, Pre-Schools, Nurseries and School Reception Classes.
This in-person Autism Education Trust (AET) module will help delegates to think about the reasonable adjustments that can be made to support young autistic children in their setting, with the aim of creating long lasting impactful change to the early years environment.

Autism Education Trust: Good Autism Practice
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire educational professionals working in the Early Years, which includes Childminders, Pre-Schools, Nurseries and School Reception Classes.
This three session virtual course is an in-depth training around identification and support focusing on the four areas of need. A basic knowledge of autism is needed and it is suggested that delegates will have already completed Autism Education Trust: Making Sense of Autism.

Autism Education Trust: Play Module
Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire education professionals working in the Early Years, which includes Childminders, pre-schools, nurseries and school reception classes.
This in-person Autism Education Trust module is intended for early years delegates who have had some previous training or have experience of working with autistic children and who want to deepen their understanding of autistic play.
