Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Childminders

This six week course is designed for childminders working with early years children to develop confidence and competence in supporting children with SEND.  Delivered both in person and via Microsoft Teams, the course aligns with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory requirements and focuses on inclusive practice and early identification.  Participants will explore the four broad areas of need - Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social Emotional and Mental Health, and Sensory and/or Physical Needs - through practical examples and case studies.  The course introduces the Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) cycle and guides learners in using observations to inform planning and support.  Each session offers practical advice and strategies for working in partnership with families and professionals.  On completion, childminders will receive a toolkit of resources, templates, and guidance to support inclusive provision and ensure every child can thrive in a nurturing environment.
