    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Early Years Settings and Reception Practitioners 

    Adapted More Than Words The Hanen Program for Parents of Autistic Children or Children who may benefit from Social Communication Support offered to Educators.

    For practitioners in South Gloucestershire Early Years settings and Reception classes, currently working with a child who may be on the Autistic spectrum or who is showing differences in their social communication development.

    The course consists of 8 sessions (1 online orientation, 5 in-person teaching sessions and 2 video reflection sessions in your settings):

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Increased confidence in using strategies to support children's social communication during fun, everyday interactions such as getting a playful interaction started and keeping it going. 
    • Increased understanding about communication stages and how to select appropriate communication goals for autistic children.

    There is no charge for South Gloucestershire Early Years Practitioners to attend this course.
