Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Early Years Settings, Childminders, Reception and Nursery Class Teachers SENDCO's, SALT professionals, Children's centre staff and Outreach Teams in South Gloucestershire.
The Makaton for early years workshop provides bespoke vocabulary tailored to those working with babies and young children. It explores how Makaton supports the early communication and language development, helping children express themselves and understand others. Participants learn key signs and symbols for daily routines, play activities, and social interactions, alongside strategies for embedding signing naturally into everyday conversations. This hands-on approach ensures practitioners can create inclusive environments where all children have the tools to communicate effectively.

There is a charge of £50 for South Gloucestershire Early Years Settings, Childminders and Schools to attend this session.
When you sign up for this course, for the time being, payment of course fees will be made in the usual way, through the South Gloucestershire Council website. Go to www.southglos.gov.uk and click on Pay, the Pay Online. Scroll down to Other Payments. You will then see an option to choose Early Years Training . Select your course from the drop down list and follow the instructions to make payment. If your payment has not been made 14 days prior to the start date your place will be cancelled.
