• Course overview

    Eligibility: This course is open to those who would like to develop, set up and deliver Forest School Programmes and become a qualified Forest School Leader.

    Through a combination of practical outdoor learning and indoor teaching, you will explore the benefits for children as child led learners for lifelong skills and follow a person-centred approach.  The course includes 6 face-to-face training sessions, 2 skills assessment days to complete a portfolio of work, tutorial and ongoing support, in person practical work-based assessment, access to Cambium Sustainable Support Moodle with resources and information.  The course equates to 70 hours of taught time and requires, on average, a further 110 hours of self-study time.  You must attend all sessions.

    Units covered will include:

    • Supporting learning, play and development in the outdoors
    • Forest School Leader
    • Observation and evaluation of outdoor learning
    • Sustainable use of natural resources
    • Teaching outdoor practical skills 

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • An understanding of the development of Forest School.
    • Putting the Forest School principles and ethos into practice.
    • Understanding of the co-ordination required for the Forest School programme.
    • Ability to confidently deliver Forest School sessions and reflect on practice.
    • Learn and develop a range of practical skills to include fire and tools.
    • Complete 5 units to build your portfolio of work.

    Charges

    There is a charge of £899.00 per place to attend this session.
