Eligibility: This course is open to all infant, junior and primary schools. The staff meeting format is intended for all relevant teaching and support staff at a school to attend as one.
As this course is in a Staff Meeting format, only one booking is required for your school. Please ensure the booking is in the name of the person who you wish to receive all communication (eg head teacher, maths lead).
This 45-minute online staff meeting will support you as a school to review how you could be making more use of the bar model when teaching word problems to support pupils. We will look at the progression in the use of bar models for all types of word problems and the types of word problems we should be using in each year group.
The course will also support you as a school with ensuring that you give your pupils the right tools so that they will be able to know what type of bar model they need to make or draw in order to solve a particular type of word problem.
But why bar model at all you may ask?
You may also want to book the bar models for arithmetic staff meeting as a starting point or just book onto this one.
