• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to Maths subject leaders, headteachers and assessment leaders in infant, junior and primary schools.

This online, twilight session will look at the principles behind moderation of mathematics.  We will look at and discuss what the current research is saying about best practice, share different approaches and have time to do some moderation.

It will support schools to plan a cycle of maths moderation, discuss what to moderate against so that it can be compared nationally and what are the most important aspects of maths we need pupils to be secure in to then be confident to say they are on track.

We will also look at the best way to use test data and gaps analysis and the range of evidence to use when moderating.

This course is being run at the end of term 5 so that we have enough evidence in books, especially for KS1 pupils, to support us in the end of year judgements.

This twilight will give maths leads and senior leaders time to discuss what we mean by a professional dialogue around maths moderation when reviewing books as part of a work scrutiny and carrying out pupil voice.
