• Course overview



    Eligibility: This course is open to maths subject leaders in infant, junior and primary schools.

    These two half day, online sessions will support you as a school to review your progression from EYFS to Y6 in problem solving, the key building blocks pupils need to problem solve and reason, and the pedagogy behind the teaching of all types of problem solving.

    Session 1:  

    • auditing your current practice for teaching of basic skills and fluency, including looking at the role of oracy and vocabulary
    • models of good practice 
    • planning for implementation 

    Session 2: 

    • All types of problem solving 
    • Use of manipulatives to support problem solving


    Learning outcomes

    The aims of this course are:

    • To support teaching staff with securing core knowledge in year 5 in readiness for year 6.
    • To consider how to support SEND pupils 
    • To try out the activities in a supported session.
    • To have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss and share ideas.

    The charge for this course or event is: £150
