    Eligibility: This course is open to Schools in Bath, Bristol, Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire

    This four session course is open to any infant, junior or primary school who have a focus on problem solving and reasoning this year as part of their SDP. We are looking for a group of 8 to 10 schools based in Bath, Bristol, Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire to join the project. 

    As a school are you looking at how to enhance and embed the teaching of reasoning and problem-solving skills? This school-based project will support you as a school to review your progression from EYFS to Y6 in problem solving.  We will explore the key building blocks pupils need in order to problem solve and reason, as well as reviewing the latest research and the pedagogy behind the teaching of all types of problem solving. This project will support maths leads to audit practice, implement change and evaluate the impact.

    The project is made up of 4 sessions:

    Session 1:  CPD session for maths leads auditing current practice of the teaching of problem solving and reasoning including reflecting on pedagogy 

    Sessions 2 and 3:  Bespoke school 2-hour visit 

    Session 4:  Online evaluation twilight to share practice.

    Learning outcomes

    The aims of this course are:

    • To support schools to review and evaluate current teaching models for both problem solving and reasoning.
    • To share models of good practice.
    • To share a range of resources.
    • To provide bespoke support for each school 
    • To have time to ask questions and discuss.

    The charge for this course or event is: £495
