Eligibility: This course is open to Early Years Settings, Childminders , Reception and Nursery Class Teachers in South Gloucestershire only.
This one hour webinar explores the difference between tokenistic approaches to inclusion and more authentic, meaningful inclusive practice within early years settings. The session encourages practitioners to reflect on how environments, celebrations, resources, curriculum choices, and everyday interactions can either support genuine belonging or unintentionally reinforce stereotypes and superficial representation.
Participants are encouraged to consider how inclusion extends beyond themed activities, festivals, or occasional displays, and instead becomes embedded within everyday practice, relationships, and decision-making. The webinar explores how practitioners can develop more thoughtful and responsive approaches by building meaningful knowledge of children, families, communities, and lived experiences.
With no expectation to interact, the session offers a relaxed and reflective space to listen and explore ideas individually or as part of a team. Through practical examples, reflective prompts, and discussion points, practitioners are supported to consider how authentic inclusion can be strengthened across environments, interactions, and curriculum experiences.
A reflective follow-up task will be provided after the session to support ongoing learning, discussion, and application within everyday practice.
While each webinar can be attended individually, practitioners are encouraged to attend all three sessions within the EDI Bitesize series.
