    Course overview

    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Early Years Settings, Childminders , Reception and Nursery Class Teachers only.

    These 5 x one-hour sessions will explore each of the Five to Thrive Blocks in turn, considering what it means to Respond, Engage, Relax, Play and Talk in everyday practice.  

    Designed for South Gloucestershire childminders, settings and schools that have already completed Five to Thrive training, the sessions provide an opportunity to revisit and deepen understanding of the approach.

    Participants will reflect on how the Five to Thrive principles are embedded in their practice, share ideas and experiences with colleagues, and consider how these approaches support children’s wellbeing, relationships and development.

    The sessions also offer time for professional discussion, helping practitioners to strengthen their confidence in using Five to Thrive within their own setting and to identify ways to build this work further with their team.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Develop a deeper understanding of the Five to Thrive approach and the five blocks of Respond, Engage, Relax, Play and Talk.
    • Reflect on how Five to Thrive principles are embedded in your practice and how they support children’s wellbeing, relationships and development.
    • Identify practical ways to strengthen and build on the use of Five to Thrive within your own setting and team.

     

    Charges

    There is a charge of £0 per delegate for these sessions.  South Gloucestershire settings, childminders and schools only.

    If this course has a cost for your setting and a booking is made before 1st September 2026, we will contact you in early September to request payment.  From 1st September 2026 you will be asked to pay via GovPay upon sign up, using a credit or debit card.

    Please ensure that you book onto the course date to complete your booking by clicking on ‘View and choose course dates’.  If you can no longer attend please cancel your place giving at least 7 days’ notice in order to be able to claim a refund.
