• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to SGC managers only.

This practical, interactive webinar supports line managers to apply the council’s Line Manager Expectations (LME) with clarity and confidence. The LME brings together in one place the core responsibilities of council managers and can be used as a clear, practical framework to guide your day-to-day management.

A key theme running throughout the Line Manager Expectations is the need for managers to communicate clearly and create the right conditions for people to perform to the best of their ability in line with our values and behaviours. Managing with clarity is therefore a fundamental skill that underpins effective performance across many areas of the LME and helps managers lead consistently, confidently, and fairly.

Focusing on clarity as a powerful management skill, the session explores what we mean by managing with clarity in practice, common barriers and consequences, practical tools, setting healthy boundaries, and avoiding burnout. You will explore how clarity helps to lead teams effectively, create a positive culture, and support individuals to perform at their best. You will build on learning from the Managing with Clarity e-module and reflect on your LME skills audit, using real scenarios faced by managers across the council.

Through discussion and practical reflection, you will develop a deeper understanding of approaches that will help you use the Line Manager Expectations effectively in your role.
