• Course overview

Eligibility:  This course is open to Early Years settings across South Gloucestershire including childminders, nurseries, pre-schools and school-based nurseries.

This 3-hour course explores how practitioners can adopt a reflective and responsive approach to conflict in early years settings. It emphasises the importance of recognising behaviour as communication and responding in ways that are calm, intentional and consistent.

Practitioners will consider how to support children in expressing their emotions, developing social skills and building positive relationships, while maintaining clear, developmentally appropriate boundaries. With a strong focus on relationship-based practice, the course highlights the role of co-regulation, demonstrating how supportive adult interactions help children gradually develop their ability to manage feelings and behaviour independently.
