• Course overview

Eligibility:  This course is open to practitioners and childminders working with babies, inclusing those who are new to the role, returning, or looking to refresh their knowledge and practice

Rooted in the latest research, guidance, and best practice, this two-part course explores the role of those working with babies, with a focus on meeting their care, learning, and safeguarding needs. It highlights how secure, responsive relationships underpin early development, helping babies feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.

A central theme is the role of respectful, responsive care routines—such as nappy changing, feeding, and sleep—as rich opportunities for connection, communication, and learning, in line with current guidance. Everyday moments are explored as key spaces for building attachment, tuning into babies’ cues, and supporting emotional security, while also strengthening safeguarding through careful observation and consistent, attuned care.

The course also provides opportunities to connect with peers, share experiences, and exchange ideas. This collaborative approach encourages reflection and builds confidence, ensuring participants leave with practical strategies and a renewed sense of purpose in delivering high-quality, relationship-based care.
