This short webinar explores the importance of quality interactions and serve-and-return communication in supporting babies’ learning, development, and emotional wellbeing. Rooted in responsive caregiving and attachment-informed practice, the session considers how everyday interactions help shape babies’ brain development, communication skills, relationships, and sense of security.
Participants are encouraged to reflect on the role of sensitive, attuned interactions in helping babies feel seen, heard, valued, and understood. The webinar explores how practitioners can recognise and respond to babies’ cues, interests, expressions, sounds, and movements through warm, responsive back-and-forth interactions that build connection and support development over time.
With no expectation to interact, the session offers a relaxed and reflective space to listen and explore ideas individually or as part of a team. Through practical examples, reflective prompts, and links to everyday baby room practice, practitioners are supported to consider how meaningful interactions can be embedded throughout routines, play, care moments, and daily experiences.
Whether you are new to these ideas or looking to deepen existing practice, this webinar offers accessible professional development that supports stronger relationships and more responsive care for babies.
As a result of this course you will:
Develop an understanding of serve-and-return interactions and their importance in babies’ learning and development.
