    Course overview

    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire childminders only

    This 1 ½ hour, face to face session, is an opportunity to share  Makaton signs and symbols that are free to download on the Makaton Hub www.makaton.org 

    We will be looking at some key themes throughout the year - This session we will focus on Summer / Holidays / Going to Scho

    This is not a certificated Workshop

    Makaton is a communication programme that combines signs, symbols, and speech to support communication.

     

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course you will:

    • Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life.
    • Makaton is a unique communication programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate
    • Communication is a human right and Makaton is a tool that can support inclusive practice

     

    Charges

    There is a charge of £0 per delegate for this course. 

    If this course has a cost for your setting and a booking is made before 1st September 2026, we will contact you in early September to request payment. From 1st September 2026 you will be asked to pay via GovPay upon sign up, using a credit or debit card.
