• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Primary School Staff only.

This 2 hour and 15 minute session will explore Five to Thrive model which is a way of understanding how connected relationships are fundamental to human wellbeing and help us to build resilient communities. Research in neuroscience is transforming how we think about wellbeing and resilience. One of the Key findings is that people need people.

Five to Thrive identifies a sequence of five activities that build healthy brains through mindful co-regulation and mindful co-learning: RESPIND - ENGAGER - RELAX - PLAY TALK.

This sequence can be observed whenever humans are relating with loving connectedness, so Five to Thrive identifies a key sequence in the formation of attachment relationships. Feeling safe relies on brain functions that are developed through secure attachment relationships. And feeling safe enables our brains to function optimally throughout life.

Attending this training will support you and your team to adopt and implement a Five to Thrive approach within your school which can be used to support your staff team, children and their families.

Prior to attending this training, you will be required to watch a 1 hour pre-recorded webinar which will explore the fundamentals of this model to then build upon in the training.
