    Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Practitioners working in School Nursery Classes

    This three session in person network will bring together new and experienced nursery practitioners working in school-based nursery classes.  Throughout the three sessions we will cover a range of topics, providing a wealth of information to those attending.  There will be opportunities to network together and work with colleagues from other nursery classes to share knowledge and experiences.  Theme covered will include:

    • Timetables and routines
    • Indoor and outdoor environment
    • Observation, assessment and planning
    • Building your EYFS curriculum
    • Transition into Reception

    There will also be opportunities for delegates to share challenges and problem solve together during each session.

    For the time being, payment of course fees will be made in the usual way through the South Gloucestershire Council website.  Go to www.southglos.gov.uk and click on Pay, then Pay Online.  Scroll down to Other Payments.  You will then see an option to choose Early Years Training.  Select your course from the drop down list and follow the instructions for payment.  You will receive an automated email confirming your payment.  If payment has not been made 7 days prior to the start of the course your place will be cancelled.

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Secure knowledge of EYFS requirements.
    • Understanding of the 'road to writing' and 'what comes before phonics'.
    • Awareness of the range of timetables and routines that can support children to learn, following their own interests.
    • Understanding of the characteristics of effective teaching and learning.
    • Understanding of the prime and core areas of learning and how to use these to build your EYFS curriculum.
    • Assessment requirements for the nursery year and awareness of developmental milestones.
    • How to access additional funding for children with SEND.
    • Quality adult-child interactions.

    The cost of this course for South Gloucestershire Schools is £180.00 per place..
