Eligibility: This course is open to everyone working with children adn young people.
This workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of private fostering arrangements. Private fostering occurs when a child under 16 (or under 18 if disabled) is cared for by someone who is not their parent or a close relative for 28 days or more. Why attend? The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and support private fostering situations. It will cover the legal requirements, the roles and responsibilities of carers, and the support available to both the child and the carer. What will you learn? Participants will gain a clear understanding of the definition and examples of private fostering, legal obligations and notification processes, the role of local authorities and social services, best practices for supporting privately fostered children, and how to ensure the child's safety and well-being. Who should attend? This workshop is ideal for social workers, educators, healthcare professionals, and anyone involved in child welfare. By the end of the session, participants will have a clear understanding of private fostering and how to effectively support those involved in such arrangements.
