Eligibility: This course is open to Y1 & Y2 teachers, English assessment subject leaders and anyone administrating the phonics screening check in June 2027, from any infant or primary school.
All Y1 pupils who are able to access the phonics screening check will need to complete the check in June 2027. Any Y2 pupils who didn’t pass the screening check in Y1 will also need to complete the 2026 phonics screening check in June 2027.
The purpose of this online, twilight briefing is to outline the phonics screening check process for Y1 or Y2 teachers who may be unfamiliar with this. It will provide an overview of the national guidance from STA on how to carry out this check as well as support teachers and other adults who will be administering the check by sharing and discussing the DfE phonics screening check training video.
