    Eligibility: This course is open to all School Business Managers and Head Teachers in South Gloucestershire maintained schools

    As part of Schools Finance Bitesize training, this is a short 1 hour session delivered via Microsoft Teams.

    Starting in September 2026, the national Free School Meals (FSM) eligibility criteria for state-funded schools in England is expanding. The current £7,400 net earnings cap is being removed, entitling every child from a household receiving Universal Credit to a free school meal. This expansion will cover over half a million additional pupils

    In this session we will explain how different funding streams are impacted by the changes in eligibility for FSM and how this will be accounted for in your school’s budget.  We will discuss:

    What the changes in eligibility are

    The Free School Meals expansion grant methodology

    Changes to the Universal Infant Free School Meals grant

    Funding going forward
