• Course overview

    Eligibility: This Network is open to South Gloucestershire pre-school committee members and setting managers.

    Join us for an engaging and informative two-part virtual programme designed to support and strengthen pre‑school committee leadership. Across two focused sessions, you will gain practical knowledge, fresh insights, and the confidence to make a real impact within your pre-school. 

    Session one shines a spotlight on funding and sustainability. You will explore government-funded childcare grants, learn how to navigate the South Gloucestershire Provider Portal with confidence, understand annual census requirements, and discover new approaches to fundraising that support long-term sustainability.

    Session two focuses on people, governance and growth.  It will clarify your role as a committee member in recruiting and supporting practitioners, strengthen your understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, and guide you on what to do if concerns arise.  The session will also showcase practical, acheivable ways to market your setting effectively.

    Together, these sessions offer a valuable opportunity to build skills, share learning and feel empowered in your committee role.

     

    Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course you will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

    • Understanding the various government funded childcare grants that are available.
    • Awareness of the South Gloucestershire Provider Portal which is used to administer the government grants.
    • Understand who to go to if you require support with money matters.
    • Awareness of the importance of marketing your setting to ensure future sustainability.
    • Quick and easy fund-raising ideas.
    • Awareness of possible funding sources.
    • Planning for future committee succession.
    • Knowledge of your responsibilities around recruitment, including the process from the decision to recruit through to induction and probation.
    • Understanding of the importance of safer recruitment.

    Charges

    There is a charge of £0 per delegate for this course. 

    If this course has a cost for your setting and a booking is made before 1st September 2026, we will contact you in early September to request payment.  From 1st September 2026 you will be asked to pay via GovPay upon sign up, using a credit or debit card.
