• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to everyone who has completed the Epilepsy Awareness Training within the last two years.

Best practice guidelines state that individuals who administer rescue medicines should attend a refresher course every two years.

In this session, we will explore the triggers of Status Epilepticus, which is characterised by prolonged seizures or a series of seizures. Our discussion will cover the critical importance of emergency treatment and the potential dangers if rescue treatment is not administered promptly. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the necessity of adhering to the individual's seizure protocol.

The course will also provide a practical opportunity to demonstrate the administration of Buccal Midazolam in accordance with a care plan.  Also how to support people with a Vagus Nerve Stimulator. This hands-on component ensures that participants are well-prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.
