• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to social workers in all child and young people settings, case managers and social work students.

For some time now, social work has lost its soul around the ideal of working directly with children, young people and their families, having slipped into a purchasing and case management process that alienates from the skills and engagement of problem solving that was once the centre of excellent practice. Therapeutic Social Work is slowly reintroducing itself in the mainstream of social work in the UK, but little is known about the interweaving of therapy, planning, assessment, complex case analysis and intervention. This introduction day will introduce the tools and skills for social workers to be able to practise in this way.
