Eligibility: This course is open to children’s social care staff.

The Therapeutic Parenting Pick ’n’ Mix for Staff is an interactive course delivered by the specialist CAMHS service Thinking Aloud. It explores how developmental trauma and attachment difficulties shape the lives of young people, with a particular focus on the experiences of children in care, including those who are fostered or adopted.

Drawing on the training we provide to foster carers through fostering business support, this course introduces key themes such as attachment, the neuroscience behind developmental trauma, and therapeutic approaches to healing. Participants will also examine the impact of secondary or vicarious trauma and learn about supportive interventions, including the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) from Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.

The training is designed to be experiential and open, offering space for questions, discussion, and reflection. Real, confidential examples will be shared, and participants will benefit from the collective experience and wisdom of the group.
