Eligibility: This course is open to headteachers and senior leaders from any junior or primary school.
This two hour training session is aimed at senior leaders wanting concise but thorough training to recognise end of KS2 expectations for writing.
This session offers an up-to-date overview of how writing is judged at the end of KS2, with discussion about implications for teaching and assessment across the whole school.
Designed for headteachers with limited previous standardisation training or those wanting to refresh their knowledge, the session has been updated for 2025-26 and includes further examples and insights. Whether you are new to the framework or looking to check your confidence, this course delivers practical clarity in a manageable timeframe.

Understanding the principles and approaches moderators use to assess writing in line with the Teacher Assessment Framework (TAF)
Recognising the three writing standards at the end of KS2 and confidently interpreting national materials and pupil-can statements.
